About Us

Zachary Thomas is a second-year Gold Scholar at Georgia Tech pursuing a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Spanish. He graduated as an IB Diploma Recipient and Valedictorian of his class at Lakeside High School in May of 2021. As such, he has witnessed the pitfalls of high school and college admissions firsthand.

Born and raised in Augusta, GA, Zach recognized that his local community did not offer personalized, high-caliber services that help in the areas of standardized test prep and tutoring in higher-level coursework (AP/IB). 

He created Instro Academics to help fill that gap! 

I have over 9 years of tutoring experience, both professionally and academically, across a variety of subject areas. Now, I intend to use that experience to offer my help to others in any area—SAT/ACT prep, Essay Revisions, Tutoring in AP, IB, gifted... you name it!

Qualifications

A little more about Zach's qualifications...


"In high school, I was extremely passionate about science and mathematics. I had the privilege of serving as the President of the Science National Honor Society and Captain of the Science Olympiad Team (state qualifiers). I also competed in the Department of Energy's Science Bowl competition at the National level. Outside of STEM, I served as the Vice President of the IB Diploma Program, was the Co-Founder and President of an amazing youth service organization (The Youth Board Inc.—ask me more if you want to get involved!), and graduated as the Valedictorian of my class before leaving Lakeside. 


Alongside my extracurricular achievements, I came into college admissions with a few scores: 


- 35 (out of 36) on the ACT 

- 780 (out of 800) on SAT Math

- 760 (out of 800) on SAT Reading 

- 800 (out of 800) on SAT Biology Subject Test 

- 5s on ALL AP Exams taken 

- 6+ (out of 7) on all IB Exams taken 

- A (highest score) on IB Extended Essay (4000-word Senior Thesis)

- 7 on IB Spanish Exam and Recipient of IB Bilingual Diploma

- IB Diploma Recipient (2021)


I was accepted into almost every school that I applied to, alongside some merit scholarships, some of which included: 


- Georgia Institute of Technology (Gold Scholarship ~ top 2% of freshman applicants accepted)

- The University of Georgia (Foundation Fellowship ~ top 20 applicants of entire freshman class accepted)

- Boston University (Presidential Scholarship ~ top 3% of freshman applicants accepted)

Iziq Thomas

Iziq Thomas is a rising senior at Lakeside High School in the IB Diploma Programme. He has taken several higher-level, gifted, AP, and IB classes, and plans to graduate in May 2024. Among other extracurriculars, Iziq is the Vice President of the IB Program, Co-Captain of Lakeside's Science Olympiad team, and a 5-time Department of Energy National Science Bowl team qualifier and competitor.

Through these courses, Iziq has earned some of the highest scores on several standardized tests, including:

Iziq has over five years of teaching experience through his time working as the Head Instructor of Higher-Level Mathematics and Reading at the Kumon Center of Augusta and is excited to share his experience to help you achieve your academic goals!
